About Poverty in Taikmalaya Regency 2024

The issue of poverty is not just about the number and percentage of poor people. Another dimension that needs to be considered is the level of depth and severity of poverty.

Knowing how deep the poor are below the poverty line and knowing the position of poverty among the poor. The level of depth and severity of poverty is measured through the indicators of the Poverty Gap Index (P₁) and the Poverty Severity Index (P₂) formulated by Foster-Greer-Thorbec (FGT).

The P₁ indicator is a measure of the average gap in expenditure of each poor person against the Poverty Line. If the P₁ figure is found to be getting closer to 0, then this condition indicates that the average expenditure of the poor is getting closer to the Poverty Line. The P₂ indicator provides an overview of the distribution of expenditure among the poor. The P₂ figure which is getting closer to 0 indicates that the inequality in expenditure of the poor is generally getting smaller.

The condition of the Poverty Depth Index of Tasikmalaya Regency in 2024 is 1.01, while the Poverty Severity Index is 0.15.
